PRINCE & 3RDEYEGIRL announced their arrival in London in spectacular style on Tuesday 4th February.
After flying in straight from their all night launch party for debut single PRETZELBODYLOGIC in NYC on Sunday evening the band began their stint in London with an intimate press conference in Lianne LaHavas’s east London living room. Playing acousticallyPrince & 3RDEYEGIRL previewed two tracks from the forthcoming PLECTRUMELECTRUM album. A fittingly intimate and special location, this was the first in the series of surprise ‘Hit and Run’ shows, with many more exciting events to follow through February.
Following the press conference the band moved to Camden’s historic Electric Ballroom where they played a 60 minute spontaneous jam session to a few hundred lucky fans who were tipped off about the session just an hour beforehand via Twitter. No one was left unsatisfied as the band ripped through several tracks from PLECTRUMELECTRUM, as well as surprises that included a phenomenally funky version of Wild Cherry’s ‘Play That Funky Music’.
3RDEYEGIRL’s brand new single PRETZELBODYLOGIC was released this week and is available on all digital platforms worldwide. It is an incendiary rock guitar throwdown. A two-minute preview video can be seen below;
Clash Magazine call the track ‘a supreme piece of liquid funk’ and district MTV described it as ‘a pretty surefire hit, with an anthemic guitar riff and vocal hook’.
The music icon was featured in a special episode of the hit FOX Television show New Girl Sunday evening, following the Super Bowl, to critical acclaim and a network high 26M viewers.
3RDEYEGIRL (guitarist Donna Grantis, bassist Ida Nielsen and drummer Hannah Ford Welton) are Prince’s new multi-national all-female rock trio. The group’s debut television performance was on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon early last year. From there,Prince & 3RDEYEGIRL detonated audiences in Montreux, Sweden, Denmark, Portugal, Amsterdam, and select US cities, including a multi-night residency at the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut with Prince’s larger New Power Generation band. Between performances they spent extended time at Prince’s historic Paisley Park Studio and London’s Studio One where they recordedPLECTRUMELECTRUM, set for release this year.
