“It's rare for a group this new to capture such a genuinely heartwarming sound so successfully" - Scotland on Sunday.
Olive Grove Records are very excited to be able to share with you the debut EP from Glasgow-based, Skinny Dipper.
The nine-piece group, which consists of members of a number of bands including Quickbeam and Randolph's Leap, have been causing a stir in the Scottish music scene since they performed their first live show towards the end of last year. Since then they have played a handful of gigs, including appearances at festivals Brew at the Bog in Inverness and Stag & Dagger in Glasgow.
Originally formed as a GarageBand project by Canadian Alex Kenzel and Vicki Cole, the duo realised that their songs were too good to go to waste. The band soon swelled to nine members, enabling them to realise the sound they were trying to achieve.
Recorded at Beetroot Studios with acclaimed producer Stuart MacLeod (Beerjacket, Quickbeam), ‘Masks’ is packed full of beautiful harmonies and soaring melodies which sound almost effortless. Given the high benchmarks already set by the members' respective musical backgrounds, their EP is an accomplished piece of work that showcases one of the most exciting prospects in Scotland.
'Masks' was released on limited edition 12" vinyl and digital download on September 8, 2014 through Olive Grove Records.
