Electro-pop mini 'supergroup' Starwalker are pleased to unveil the video to 'Losers Can Win', the title track from their new EP of the same name, set for release on March 31st through Prototyp Records and Bang Ehfs.
The European duo, comprising the talents of French electronic icon Jean-Benoit Dunckel (previously of Air) and Icelandic composer Bardi Johannsson (Bang Gang), meld ambient sonic textures with evocative visuals that invite listeners on a unique audio-visual adventure.
A softly sung ode featuring the calming timbre of Dutch-Israeli singer-songwriter Keren Ann, 'Losers Can Win' is filled with mellow guitar strums, permeating bass and deep electronic notes that make for a gorgeously laidback listen.
The accompanying video has a distinctly nostalgic, art deco feel. Sleek and polished in its aesthetic, the track is beautifully complemented by cinematic slow-motion effects and a myriad of interesting camera techniques that make for a visually engrossing piece.
Reflecting both the unpredictable nature of Iceland and clean, classic design of France, Starwalker are keeping their sound shadowy and poetics and their approach refreshingly mysterious, unveiling their inspiring creations slowly and tantalisingly.
Dunckel and Johannsson say of their music:
“Starwalker depends on the people’s wish. We are just answering our own and other people’s imaginations.”
Each with highly-acclaimed projects such as Dunckel’s co-composition of The Virgin Suicides under their belts, they bring their own distinctive styles and haunting song-writing skills to the fore, promising more ethereal melodies with each beautifully crafted piece.
