Following their debut single release of ‘Genius’ last month, The Courtesans are thrilled to reveal they are to make available their debut album '1917' on general release' this October, via the Belle Epoque imprint.
Previously '1917' was only available to Pledgers who supported the band via their hugely successful crowdfunding campaign (http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/thecourtesans) but will be soon available for public purchase. The release will be supported by some UK live shows, for which we'll have more details very soon.
Today we bring you album teaser 'Lullaby': an ethereal, soothing piece seeing Sinead La Bella's rich yet low vocal contrast with that typically-Courtesan sultry ass groove.
Borne through a collective desire for creative performance and exquisite, edgy music, The Courtesans’ debut album ‘1917’ is a shape-shifting collection of works drawing influence from metal, electro-pop and the far reaches of dubstep.
The band settled into the studio in late 2013 to make permanent their library collection of cinematic tracks, taking inspiration from their hypnotising live shows that have seen hot wax pouring and almost-burlesque theatre entwine with The Courtesans’ core gig performances.
The result is ‘1917’: a sonically-outstanding, wide-screen record, its roots solidly cemented within the realms of rock but whimsically flits between genres and layers. Here we see the band’s distinctly-unique vibe: heavy electronic drums, blending guitars with wobbly bass, and awesome female vocal harmonies.
‘1917’ is ultimately a declaration of independence - album promos coming soon. The tracklist will be as follows:
2. Venus in Furs
7. Blood Money
8. Dirty Killer
10. Hard Man to Kill
The Courtesans are
Sinead La Bella (vocals),
Agnes D. Jones (bass),
Saffire Sanchez (guitar)
Vikki Brown (drums)
